What is Decorative Stamping?

Today, the cutting edge of concrete is a process known as stamping, which is sometimes referred to as decorative concrete. Stamped concrete involves imprinting three-dimensional patterns into colored concrete. The result is a very durable and attractive concrete project, enhancing the beauty of your home or business.

Stamped Concrete is a cast in place system. The different surfaces and patterns of the concrete are achieved through a series of textured mats, which can resemble virtually any desired surface. The base color of the concrete is obtained by adding color into the surface. A color release agent is then used to insure maximum surface detail while providing a second color for surface highlights and a distinctive grout line look.

The finished product will accent your dream home with the unique look from random stone to slate rock, a look only obtained by concrete stamping.

There are dozens of colors to choose from. As far as patterns, any material can be duplicated - from slate to stone to brick. The patterns are endless. Although stamped concrete is roughly 2-3 times the cost of ordinary concrete, it is still less expensive than the real stone.

Doug Carlton was quoted in the July issue of Concrete Construction Magazine saying - “Decorative concrete is the future of concrete." You most likely will not choose outdated carpet, tile or cabinets in your new home. The concrete around your home is no different. Simple natural gray concrete is out. Vibrant colors - stone patterns are in. The best part being that decorative concrete is timeless, yet extremely affordable.”
